Our Commitment to You
BeTended exists to help family caregivers feel less alone and more prepared. Every article, guide, and resource we publish is created with one goal: to give you practical, trustworthy information that makes your caregiving journey a little easier.
This page explains how we create and evaluate content, what standards we hold ourselves to, and what you can expect when you read something on BeTended.
Who We Are
BeTended is an online resource for family caregivers, primarily adult children caring for aging parents. We are not a medical institution, a licensed care agency, or a substitute for professional advice. We are a team that believes caregivers deserve better information, told with warmth and clarity.
Our Editorial Standards
Accuracy First
We research our topics thoroughly. When we cite statistics, studies, or expert guidance, we link to the primary source: government agencies, peer-reviewed research, or recognized professional organizations in aging and caregiving. If something cannot be verified, we do not publish it as fact.
Practical Over Theoretical
Our audience is in the middle of it. They don’t have time for vague advice or academic framing. We write guides that caregivers can act on: step-by-step instructions, concrete checklists, real options with trade-offs explained clearly.
Empathy Without Pity
We acknowledge how hard caregiving is without being patronizing. We write to caregivers as capable adults navigating one of life’s most difficult challenges, not as people who need to be rescued or lectured.
Content Review
All content on BeTended goes through editorial review before publication. Our process includes:
- Research review: Claims, statistics, and recommendations are checked against authoritative sources.
- Clarity review: Content is reviewed for plain language, logical flow, and practical usefulness.
- Brand review: Tone, voice, and framing are checked against our editorial standards above.
We update older content when information changes. Publication or update dates are noted on each article.
What We Are Not
BeTended is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, or financial advice. Nothing on this site should be interpreted as a medical diagnosis, treatment recommendation, or legal guidance. Always consult a qualified professional (your parent’s doctor, an elder law attorney, a financial planner) for decisions specific to your situation.
We also do not:
- Endorse specific care facilities, home care agencies, or medical products
- Accept payment to recommend any product or service without clear disclosure
- Publish content designed to alarm or frighten caregivers into action
Affiliate Links and Sponsorships
Some links on BeTended may be affiliate links, meaning we receive a small commission if you purchase through them. This never influences what we recommend. We only link to products and services we believe are genuinely useful to caregivers. Affiliate relationships and sponsored content are always disclosed clearly.
Corrections Policy
We take accuracy seriously. If we publish an error, we correct it promptly and note the correction in the article. If you spot something that doesn’t seem right, please contact us. We genuinely appreciate the help.
